Designed by Clinical Founder Daniel Nichols, LCSW, our co-occurring treatment programming provides specialized care for clients who struggle with ongoing substance abuse alongside unresolved trauma, mood disorder or personality disorder. We address this complexity with an Integrated Health Model with Abstinence Focus which allows for sobriety to be established within a foundation of evidence-based clinical interventions, psychiatric care and resilience building.
Daniel Nichols, LCSW shares the philosophy behind Scottsdale Providence: providing individualized care that is supportive and challenging enough to help people grow. Treatment combines expert clinical guidance, an emphasis on personal responsibility, and a recovery community where clients build connection and fellowship together.
A comprehensive range of proven therapeutic modalities are used to meet your unique needs. From trauma-focused treatments to behavioral therapies, evidence-based approaches are combined to address the challenges you are facing and support steady, long-term progress.
Rebuild essential daily living skills and establish healthy routines through purposeful, meaningful activities. Our occupational therapists work with you to restore independence in self-care, productivity, and leisure while developing coping strategies that support long-term recovery and help you reintegrate into work, family, and community life.
Overseen by Board-Certified Addiction Medicine Expert Dr. Steven Locnikar, substance use disorder treatment combines a holistic approach with medically supported detox, personalized treatment planning, and a positive, solution-focused recovery culture. Evidence-based therapies including 12-Step Facilitation help you address substance use patterns while also supporting your mental, physical, spiritual and emotional well-being in a structured, supportive setting focused on long-term sobriety.
Begin safely and comfortably with round-the-clock medical care through withdrawal.

A positive community that builds momentum toward lasting sobriety.
Physician-Led Care
Every step of treatment is overseen by an addiction medicine expert, so your recovery is grounded in real medical care from day one.
With over 300 years of clinical expertise our comprehensive mental health treatment program includes diagnostic and assessment services, one-on-one and group therapy, trauma work and continuous psychiatric support. Our approach promotes healing through both compassionate self-awareness and comprehensive psychoeducation, driving rapid and lasting improvements in your emotional wellbeing.
Keren Poirier, LCSW explains how individualized, trauma-informed care looks beyond a client’s symptoms to understand the experiences driving them and healing the root cause. At Scottsdale Providence, every client is treated as a whole person with many strengths, not just struggles. Our clinical lens is client centered, based in unconditional positive regard and a client’s right to self-determination in their process.

“They have a very great facility, top notch clinical team, and their NP was great as she spent a lot of time getting to know me, correctly assessing, and providing the treatment best suited for my needs.”
“Providence of Scottsdale is NOT just another treatment center. They are not the place that is going to keep you sober 30 days, drain your bank account, and kick you out the door only to relapse a week later. Providence is a place that will teach you how to live life again, or maybe for the first time ever, without needing mind altering substances. It will teach you how to be okay with the person you are right now, and how to make changes to the areas you need help with. The staff are people I can call my friends even to this day. If you are looking for a life changing place to go, then this is the place for you. How badly do you want it?”
“I just want to say that SPRC has been one of the greatest recovery centers I have ever been. The staff are great. They are awesome. They have spent quite a lot of time on me and never gave up. I will forever be grateful to SPRC. I would recommend this place for anyone who needs help with Mental Health and or substance abuse.”
“Northsight Recovery met with Tesleah and we were astonished to hear about the amazing work they are providing our community. Their staff specializes in trauma and services both men and women. We were so grateful and look forward to working with such a professional team.”
“My case manager Lauren Y & Tyler helped me continuously with my paid leave until we got it figured out. They both had to jump through so many hoops and helped me with so many different things including helping me through mental breakdowns. I would strongly recommend because I’ve never felt better and wouldn’t change a thing about my experience. Also, the therapist and other staff are fantastic!!!!”
“SPRC is an awesome recovery center. The staff actually cares, The amount of services they provide is extensive. They have therapy I’ve never even heard of. There in patient program is extremely comfortable and places responsibility on keeping the house clean and not over doing it. They provide workout equipment for those of us who are active bodies. The techs know their stuff and even the clients are good people. It’s a judgment free area but they have accountability. They give you the appropriate tools for recovery for substance abuse and mental health. I highly recommend this center for anyone who is honestly looking for help.”
“I couldn't have asked for more than what was given to me during my stay here at Scottsdale Providence. A genuine staff that put my needs first. I'm so thankful for the time I was given at SPRC. I would recommend this treatment program over any other place over and over again.”
“I had the pleasure to do residential and PHP at SPRC. I have been to several other rehabs and I can honestly SPRC was the best one. I have learned so much about myself, worked on my trauma by doing EMDR and the therapist here are outstanding. The owner, Dan, runs 3 of the groups during the week which amazes me. I have never been to a recovery center where the owner is so involved with the clients, he also is a therapist for some of the clients. All other groups are runned by therapists, which has its benifits. All the staff are carring and will help you with any questions or appointments you may need. The best part is after you complete the program and become ulumni you are still able to be involved with the fellowship here. They have activities throughout the year and I look forward continuing my journey with SPRC.”

“SPRC was a wonderful experience. I did not have high hopes or expectations when I started but their staff was so welcoming and engaging it made the entire process worthwhile. I am very happy that I made the decision to enter their program and feel they have provided the tools for success. They are very encouraging and engaging.”
“Scottsdale Providence changed my whole life. I walked in completely broken, drinking and using to survive, carrying years of trauma and pain I didn’t even know how to set down. I didn’t know what I needed. I just knew I couldn’t keep living the way I was bc it was killing me. From the second I got there, the staff saw me in a way nobody ever has. They understood me. They didn’t judge me. Everything they do has intention. Nothing is random. There is rhyme and reason behind every group, every boundary, every tough conversation, and every moment they push you to sit with yourself instead of running. And honestly, the people you meet here… they’re a huge part of the healing. The patients are amazing bc the staff creates a space where everyone feels safe and connected. You end up being transparent in ways you never have before. You hear everyone’s truth. You share yours. You feel seen and less alone. That kind of honesty changes you. Most of the staff are addicts in recovery too, with years and years of sobriety. That makes such a difference. They don’t talk at you. They talk with you. They get the addict mind. They understand the shame, the fear, the spiraling, the survival mode. They know what it feels like to want to quit and still feel pulled back in. You just feel understood on a soul level. They didn’t just help me stop drinking and using. They helped me understand why I did it. They got to the root emotionally, physically, and spiritually. They taught me tools I actually use every single day. They challenged me when I wanted to shut down. They held space for me when I couldn’t catch my breath. Not once did I feel judged. I felt guided. I felt held. I felt like my life actually mattered. Scottsdale Providence didn’t just help me get sober. They gave me my life back. They gave my kids their mom back. They helped me find myself again. If you’re scared or feel like there’s no way out, I’m telling you from my own heart, this place is real. This is where healing actually happens. I’m forever grateful.”
“The therapists and staff at Scottsdale Providence are knowledgeable, caring and helpful. I would recommend going here for help. They take pride in their work and are genuine.”
“Great place with awesome staff. The staff really care about you, will challenge you to change and will call you out on your BS.”
“My time at SPRC has been really great. I have been in treatment centers before, and I can honestly say that along with my own willingness the staff here has helped me to get farther along in my recovery journey than I ever have before. The people here are truly saving lives and teaching recovery in such a way that it is achievable.”
“Providence was extremely helpful to my personal recovery. They provided me with many helpful coping skills as well as resources for managing my substance abuse. The staff are all really kind and it has made a big difference in my perspective and outlook on my future.”

“I have worked with Scottsdale Providence and its clients for years. Their dedication to client care and their clinical acumen has been nothing less than exceptional. Providence has a heavy focus on individualizing treatment to clients' needs rather than pushing every client through the same curriculum. It is obvious from working with their therapists that they genuinely care about people lives and outcomes. This is also apparent in their dedication to aftercare planning. I could not recommend Scottsdale Providence more highly.”
